Runlimited

Situation

Runlimited’s existing e-commerce platform suffered from significant technical debt, particularly within the product filtering system, which was unreliable and often failed to show customers the correct results. Furthermore, a key piece of content—the ‘Run Hub’—was hosted externally, creating a disjointed and confusing user experience.

Task

Our team was brought in to provide critical maintenance and improvement, focused on enhancing the site’s compatibility with Shopify systems, overhauling the unreliable product filtering, and seamlessly integrating the external ‘Run Hub’ content into the main site architecture.

Action

  • Conducted a comprehensive audit and subsequent overhaul of the existing codebase to improve compatibility and reliance on core Shopify functionality.
  • Refactored and rebuilt the entire product filtering system to ensure filters worked reliably and effectively, displaying accurate product subsets for customers based on their applied selections.
  • Integrated the ‘Run Hub’—an external content resource—directly into the main website architecture, developing a solution that presented the content as a seamless part of the user experience.
  • Provided ongoing maintenance and resolved critical site bugs to restore platform stability and enhance the overall shopping experience.

Result

Delivered a significantly more stable and reliable e-commerce experience, particularly by fixing the core issue of product discovery. The overhaul of the filtering system immediately provided customers with accurate results, reducing frustration and abandonment. Integrating the ‘Run Hub’ improved content retention and user journey continuity, making the site a more effective resource for runners.
