Our Process
Our preferred platform for web app development is called Laravel – you might not have heard of it and that’s absolutely fine, but it powers over 1.5 million websites globally and is the most popular framework to build on top of. This is because of its rock solid security, ease of use and vast ecosystem of tools to speed up development – and it’s why we choose it for all of our bespoke app development projects. The exact process we will follow for all of our web app development projects will depend on your requirements but it will roughly follow these steps:
Discovery Phase
At the start of every project we’ll sit down with you, either in person or over a video call (whichever works best for you) and discuss your goals for the app, current pain points and what future plans you have for the system. This will help us to identify any opportunities to make to your processes that you might not have spotted and potentially expand the scope of the project to something which could solve two problems at once.
Design Phase
This will involve not only the design of interactive elements, but also the design of the data and how information should be stored / passed from one place to another. There may be external services that are required to power the systems functionality – these will all need to be investigated to see how best to work them into the project and make sure they all talk to each other.
Development Phase
Depending on the scale of the project this may be broken down into multiple development phases, or it could all be done in one sweep. We will make sure you stay up to date and informed from start to finish on every aspect of the project however, with regular check in points and review cycles to make sure what’s being worked on is exactly what you are expecting to be delivered.
Testing Phase
Although testing happens throughout the build phase, this is the dedicated time when you will have the chance to review the app on your own devices and make sure you’re absolutely happy with how it looks, feels and works. Our reporting and tracking solution is simple for anyone to use, regardless of their technical ability – making this as painless and straightforward as possible.
Launch Phase
This isn’t a phase, so much as a process – one we’ve done 100’s of times before and have optimised to reduce downtime to the absolute minimum. It’s also a great chance to have a mini party to celebrate the arrival of the new site. Woo.
Support Phase
This all comes down to how much support you require – you might not need any ongoing support, or you might want someone to take care of updates, maintenance and content ongoing. Whatever your support needs, we’re happy to accommodate as much as possible.
