Privacy Policy for Shopopulate

This Privacy Policy describes how Shopopulate (the “App”) collects, uses, and handles information when you install it on your Shopify store. By using the App, you agree to the processing of information as described below.

1. Data Collection and Usage

We follow the principle of Data Minimization. We only collect the specific data points required to generate and manage your AI-driven product content.

  • Merchant Information: We collect your shop’s primary email address, shop domain name, and locale to manage your account and provide customer support.
  • Product Data: To generate content, we access and store your Product Titles and Product Descriptions on our secure servers.
  • No Image Data: Our systems do not store, process, or have access to your product images or media files.
  • No Customer Data: Shopopulate does not collect, store, or process any personal information about your customers (e.g., names, emails, addresses, or order history).

2. AI Processing Transparency

To provide high-quality content generation, Shopopulate utilizes third-party Large Language Models (LLMs). Your product data is processed by:

  • Anthropic (Claude)
  • Google (Gemini)
  • OpenAI (ChatGPT)

AI Training Disclosure: In accordance with the 2026 Shopify Partner Program Agreement, we confirm that your store’s data is sent to these providers strictly for real-time content generation (inference). We have opted out of data training; your product data is not used by us or these third-party providers to train or improve AI models.

3. Data Storage and Security

We store your product titles and descriptions on secure servers to allow for content history, versioning, and app functionality. We use industry-standard encryption and security protocols to protect this data.

4. Mandatory Shopify Webhooks & Compliance

We fully support and have implemented Shopify’s mandatory privacy webhooks to ensure your store remains compliant with global regulations (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, etc.):

  • customers/data_request: We do not store customer data. Any request received will be met with a confirmation that no records exist.
  • customers/redact: We do not store customer data. No redaction is necessary, but we acknowledge and confirm these requests automatically.
  • shop/redact: Upon uninstallation of the App, we will purge all stored product descriptions and store-related data from our servers within 48 hours, unless legally required to retain it.

5. Third-Party Sub-processors

We use a limited number of third-party service providers to help us operate:

  • Cloud Infrastructure: Digital Ocean for hosting and Laravel Forge for Server Management
  • AI Providers: Anthropic, Google, and OpenAI (as listed in Section 2).
  • Shopify: To facilitate the app’s integration with your store.

6. Your Rights

As a merchant, you have the right to access, correct, or request the deletion of the product data we store. You may do so by contacting us directly at the email address below.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal and regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any significant changes via the email address associated with your Shopify account.
