RBH Charity: Getting a Hospital Charity Website Back on Track
Services: Website Development, Speed Optimisation, Charity Websites
RBH Charity is an independent charity which supports the Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals through fundraising for heart and lung diseases.
They had commissioned a new website, but the project didn't quite go according to plan and they were left with a site that was riddled with bugs, hard to use, and a relationship with their old agency that could only be described as “strained”. They were recommended to me by a mutual colleague as someone who could pick up the pieces and get them back on track.
RBH came to me with a snag list with things ranging from “the accordion items need to be in an extra few colours” to “if you go to page 2 of events the whole site breaks”. So after a review of the code, some plugin swaps and some bits of fluff stripped out, we got them back on track with a site that worked perfectly and started them down the road to making it easy for them to edit.
I'm still working with RBH to make ongoing updates and improvements to the site.
The work so far has included:
- Code overhaul to make the site more reliable for end users
- Custom plugin development to power functionality like custom menu structures
- Complex Gravity Forms setup to build internal forms that simplify workflows for marketing departments
- Build of a Christmas shop, which piggybacked off Gravity Forms to keep things simple
- Rebuild and recategorisation of challenges, events and publications to enhance reliability
