Your WordPress site,
looked after properly.
A WordPress site isn't something you launch and forget. Plugins need updating, backups need checking, and every so often something breaks at the worst possible moment. I host and look after WordPress sites for businesses, charities and agencies, so there's always someone who knows your site and can sort it out quickly.
Organisations whose website matters too much to leave to chance, but who don't have a developer in house. Some had a site built by someone who's since moved on. Some are on cheap shared hosting that keeps slowing down or falling over. Some just want to stop worrying about it.
I also host and support sites for agencies, under your brand, so your clients get a well run server and you keep the relationship. Agency pricing is available on request, and there's more about how I work with agencies on my white label page.
One plan, £99 a month, no minimum term. The aim is simple: your site stays up, stays fast and stays secure, and when something does go wrong it gets fixed by someone who already knows how it all fits together.
- Enterprise-grade cloud hosting, the same kind of infrastructure big organisations rely on, without the big organisation price tag
- WordPress, theme and plugin updates, tested on a copy of your site first and only pushed live once I know nothing's broken
- Daily backups, stored off site, so if the worst ever happens there's a clean copy to put back
- A properly locked-down server, with a firewall that turns away anything that shouldn't be there and automatic blocking of anyone trying to guess their way in
- Your site kept in its own isolated space, so a problem elsewhere can't spread to you
- SSL certificates set up and renewed automatically, so the padlock is always there
- An hour of my development time every month for small changes, fixes and the odd "how do I…?" question
Need more than an hour? Extra work starts from £60 an hour, and anything bigger gets quoted up front, so you'll always know the cost before I start.
You deal with me directly, not a ticket queue or a call centre. I'll already know your site when you get in touch, so there's no starting from scratch every time something needs doing.
I'll also be honest about your setup. If you're paying for plugins you don't need, or a premium tool where a free one would do, I'll tell you. Fewer moving parts means less to go wrong and less to pay for every year.
And there's no lock-in. No minimum term, and it's your site and your content. If you ever want to move on, I'll help you do it cleanly.
Whether I built your site or someone else did, bringing it on board follows the same few steps.
01. The health check
I start by looking under the bonnet: plugins, theme, versions, backups, security. You get a plain English summary of what's in good shape and what needs attention.
02. The move
I move your site onto my hosting and handle the whole thing, including pointing your domain at the new server, with downtime kept to an absolute minimum. You shouldn't notice a thing.
03. The tidy up
Anything urgent gets fixed first. Outdated plugins, security gaps, broken bits. Anything that isn't urgent goes on a list we can work through together.
04. The routine
Updates, backups and security tick along in the background, tested before anything touches your live site.
05. When you need me
Get in touch when something needs changing or breaks. Small jobs come out of your monthly hour, bigger ones get a quote up front.
06. Growing with you
As the site and the traffic grow, the hosting grows with them. I've taken sites from a few thousand visits a month to a few million, so I know what to do when that happens.
"I've been working with Alex for the best part of a year now and he is an absolute pleasure to work with. I find him to be incredibly helpful, knowledgeable and speedy. He has helped solve numerous challenges, always finding easy and reasonable solutions."
Jacq Nortman, Head of Marketing & Comms, RBH Charity
"Alex has become a really important part of how we communicate and promote Squash Wales. He took the time to really understand us, our audience and what we're trying to achieve. Despite being an outsourced partner, he feels very much like an extension of our team."
Russell Edwards, Office and Business Manager, Squash Wales
Some things people often ask me:
Can you look after a site you didn't build?
Can you support my site on my current hosting?
What happens if my site goes down?
Is there a minimum contract?
Can you host sites for my agency's clients?
What if I need more than an hour a month?
Want someone to look after your WordPress site?
Tell me a bit about it, and I'll tell you honestly what it needs.
